Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki took part in the 15th European Economic Congress in Katowice. During his speech, he spoke about how our country can contribute to the next great industrial revolution and how we can benefit from it. The head of the Polish government announced that Poland will create the best possible conditions for the IT industry, not only in our country. Today, Microsoft announced the launch of the first cloud computing region in Poland and Central and Eastern Europe. This is the next stage of the investment in the development of the Polish Digital Valley, announced on 5 May 2020.
Accelerating the development of innovation and digital transformation in Poland
“For the first time in our history, we have a chance not only to be part of a huge global digital transformation process, but also to benefit enormously from it. Poland has gathered a lot of IT talent, computer programmers, engineers, software developers, but also cyber security specialists," the Prime Minister said during the speech.
Continuing, the head of the Polish government referred to the war in Ukraine, which made us realise the importance of cyber security and safeguarding against the flood of fake news. He also emphasised the roles of the transatlantic community in maintaining peace, stability and securing the right conditions for economic development.
Our country is developing cloud technologies
“We will create the best possible conditions for the IT industry not only in Poland, but in the whole of Central Europe and in the whole of the EU,” the head of the Polish government announced. He added that the proof of the success of this strategy is in the figures, which show an increase in industrial, IT and business process outsourcing activities.
He recalled that in Poland, the cloud project is being developed through the cooperation of the American company Microsoft, the Polish Development Fund (PFR) and PKO BP. “We want to stay in the forefront, or at least among those who are developing cloud technologies around the world. The IT sector in our country is becoming the next great competence and workplace for a lot of talent,” he noticed.
An example of this is the investment by Microsoft, which today announced the launch of the most modern and also the first cloud computing region in Central and Eastern Europe in Poland. This is a continuation of the company's more than 30-year commitment to Poland and a pledge to further support the technological development of society, business and the economy.
Opening up to investors
Poland is a friendly country for large international companies, as well as for medium-sized and smaller Polish and foreign companies that would like to rebuild their supply or production chains. We are a safe country that, through the mechanism of the special economic zone, creates optimal conditions for investors to develop their business.
It is a good model for economic development, modern technology, skilled workers and rapid economic growth. It is also a benefit for Polish workers in the form of higher salaries, increased competitiveness and new jobs.
