Prime Minister after receiving a booster dose of the vaccination: “Getting vaccinated is the best gift we can give to ourselves and our loved ones”

01.12.2021

Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki has received a booster dose at the vaccination centre located at the National Stadium in Warsaw. The President of the Council of Ministers encourages to vaccinate against COVID-19. People aged 50 and more may get vaccinated with a third dose as early as five months after full vaccination. Other adults may receive a third dose six months after getting fully vaccinated. More importantly, from 2 to 24 December 2021, all people who obtained an e-referral will have an opportunity to vaccine against COVID-19 without prior registration.

“Let’s ask ourselves this question: do we still want to live in fear of coronavirus? Isn’t it worth using what proved to be effective protection against COVID-19?” asked the Prime Minister. “Christmas is coming – this is a special time. Yet again, we will spend Christmas in the shadow of coronavirus. Let’s fight it together by getting vaccinated, but also by maintaining social distance and following the applicable rules,” he added.

A booster dose means a higher level of protection

Not all vaccines guarantee indefinite immunity. Some of them provide protection that declines over time. Unfortunately, decreasing immunity was known even before the coronavirus pandemic.

People over 50 years of age may receive a booster dose of the vaccine five months after full vaccination. Other people, aged 18-49, may get vaccined with a booster dose after five months from full vaccination.

The referral for vaccination will be generated automatically after five or six months, respectively. The validity of the EU Digital Covid Certificates of people who receive a booster dose will be extended by a year from the date of the last vaccination.

“I highly encourage everyone to make use of the fact that all vaccines are available for free, so that all people who haven’t been vaccinated or those who haven’t received a third dose yet can do that as quickly as possible,” said the head of the Polish government.

Vaccination without registration

From 2 December 2021 until Christmas, each person holding a valid e-referral will have an opportunity to visit a general vaccination centre and receive the vaccination without registration. Vaccination is the only protection against a severe course of COVID-19 infection. It may save us from death.

“The enrolment and vaccination processes are even simpler. All you need is to have an e-referral, be at least 18 years old and visit a vaccination centre. You will receive a dose of vaccine without having to fill in unnecessary formalities. It is important because doing something this vital for you and your family has never been easier,” stressed the Prime Minister.

The vaccination centre map is available at https://www.gov.pl/web/szczepimysie/mapa-punktow-szczepien#/. To find the nearest vaccination centre, select “General” in the “Type of facility” tab, and then choose appropriate voivodeship, district and municipality.

Vaccination may save us from death

Vaccination against COVID-19 is the most effective method of fighting against severe effects of disease and death. By receiving the vaccination, we can avoid getting sick and have higher chances of a benign course of infection. As of today, 75% of deaths caused by COVID-19 involves unvaccinated people. The remaining part consists of patients with comorbidities.

Remember about maintaining social distance, disinfecting hands and wearing masks. These rules allow us to reduce the further spread of coronavirus. It is important to act responsibly before the holiday season. Everyone wants to spend Christmas with their loved ones.

“Today, we can avoid the worst scenarios. We want the fourth wave to disappear as quickly as possible. Whether we will manage to avoid another wave and spend Christmas in a relatively safe and peaceful atmosphere depends on collective resistance,” claimed Mateusz Morawiecki. “Christmas is a time when children meet with their grandparents. Unfortunately, I know many cases when these meetings ended up tragically. Let’s avoid it by vaccinating as many people as we can,” added the Prime Minister.
