Prime Minister at the Volunteer Fire Brigade station in Radzieje: let these flag and emblem plaques show that our words are followed by action

06.05.2023

Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki visited the Volunteer Fire Brigade station in Radzieje. The visit was also an opportunity to see new investments in the region - including the newly rebuilt Kościelna Street. The safety of small homelands begins with support for units such as the Volunteer Fire Brigade and the modernisation of infrastructure. Thanks to government funding, the unit in Radzieje purchased a fire and rescue truck and will expand its facilities. Tightening public finances and government programmes provide funds for the modernisation of facilities and new investments across Poland.

“The reason to be proud is what we see driving around Poland and opening new investments under the sign of the white-red flag and the Polish emblem,” stressed  Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki.

Volunteer Fire Brigade in Radzieje

The Volunteer Fire Brigade in Radzieje purchased, thanks to funding, a fire and rescue vehicle which will be used for firefighting purposes. In addition, we are allocating funds from the Government's Polish Deal: Strategic Investment Programme for the extension of the existing garage building. The unit is part of the National Firefighting and Rescue System. It is located on the border of three counties: Kętrzyn, Węgrzyn and Giżycko. Last year, volunteer firefighters from Radziejów were called out more than 40 times to various accidents, including as many as 17 times to fires. Investing in units such as the Volunteer Fire Brigade in Radzieje means improving the safety of all residents in the region.

“Imagine how many human tragedies have been avoided thanks to the interventions of Volunteer Fire Brigades. There are hundreds of thousands of interventions across the country, but the statistics tell us little. In fact, the most important are precisely those tears of happiness of parents who saved their children, the people rescued from an accident who the Volunteer Fire Brigade managed to reach,” said Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki.

We care for firefighters and their families

We have steadily increased funding for the development of fire stations. We have also introduced a number of measures to support firefighters and their families. These include the Modernisation Programme for the Police, Border Guard, State Fire Service and State Protection Service from 2022 to 2025. Since 2016, we have subsidised the purchase of 2951 fire engines for Volunteer Fire Brigades across Poland. In 2023, we plan to purchase 677 fire and rescue vehicles. Details on all solutions are available in the announcement.

“Thank you, volunteer firefighters from all over Poland: for your tremendous effort, for the fact that your armour is fortitude, and not only this wonderful uniform, but also the equipment,” the head of the Polish government expressed his gratitude.

Redevelopment of Kościelna Street in Radzieje

Thanks to government support, the street was modernised with the upgrade of the lighting and storm water drainage network. Pavements were also laid, exits were built and road signs were put up. The redevelopment was made possible thanks to government programmes, which come about thanks to, among other things, a tightened state budget.

“This is one of the roads - a multi-kilometre stretch that will be commissioned here soon. Also the water treatment plant. These are strategic investments in places like this, in a district where unemployment, poverty and deprivation were rife,” stressed the Prime Minister.

Equitable development of the whole country

Our investments are proof of the policy of eliminating disparities between regions in our country. The Prime Minister pointed out that we will always work for the fair and sustainable development of the whole of Poland.

“We will certainly implement all the promises of the development of local Poland, of investments in local Poland. These investments also mean more jobs here. It is local entrepreneurs who have these investments, make these investments, create new jobs. This is what drives the development in local communities,” pointed out the head of the Polish government.
