Prime Minister congratulated winners of international Olympiads: thank you for your efforts

Development, curiosity about new experiences, the desire to test oneself - these are the motivations of students to participate in the International Olympiad. Today, the International Olympiad Medalists Award Ceremony for the 2020/2021 school year was held for the second time with the participation of Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki. Its aim is to honour the participants of the Olympiads and their tutors - teachers, mentors and representatives of committees of national Olympiads that prepare students for international competitions.

„Everyone is born with plenty of talents, but the greatest achievements are achieved by those who are able to "polish" these talents in the right way", said the Prime Minister addressing the winners of this year's Olympiads. As he mentioned, one does not jump to the top in one move, one has to climb the way full of effort and sacrifices.

“Thank you for choosing to lead your lives in such a way. Not only to polish the talents you have inside, but also to work hard so that they give the most beautiful shine to the future", he concluded.

Winners - 38 medals for our students

The award ceremony brings together winners of international science Olympiads such as: astronomy, computer science, mathematics, biology, geography, chemistry, physics, mathematical linguistics and social sciences: economics and finance.
In the 2020/2021 school year, 9 of the scheduled International Olympiads for secondary school students took place. Our students individually won a total of 38 medals (7 gold, 22 silver 9 bronze). Three students received two medals each.
“With such talented people as you, we can expect great success in the coming decades", underlined the Prime Minister, thanking the medallists for their efforts.
In addition, each of the teachers - supervisors of the awarded students will also receive an award. An honourable mention will also be given to 9 representatives of the Main Committees of the national Olympiads.

8 million for international Olympiads

„I know that, as Prime Minister, I have a great responsibility towards you because giants from all over the world apply for such talents as you. That is why, apart from economic growth, we also attract here the biggest brands from all over the world, so that you can work here", said the Prime Minister during the International Olympiad Medalists Award Ceremony.
Each year, the Ministry of Education and Science allocates over 8 million PLN for the Olympiads - including the participation of Polish representatives in international competitions. 
The International Olympiad Medallists Award Ceremony is conducted in science subjects and aims to:

  • honour all those involved in the process of preparing and conducting the International Olympiads;
  • integrate the most outstanding students - medal winners in the international arena;
  • reward and recognise young people who achieve international success;
  • reward and emphasise the role of the teachers - tutors of these medallists.
