Every democratic country should support Ukraine

Prime Minister Donald Tusk stressed that the fate of the free world is being determined in Ukraine.

“No one has the right to pretend not to see that good is fighting evil in Ukraine. Today, Ukraine is shouldering the security issues of the entire European continent,” said the head of the Polish government.

In the words of the Prime Minister, Ukraine is paying the price in blood for values such as freedom, human rights, the rule of law and democracy. Therefore, “everything must be done to ensure that Ukraine maintains its integrity and independence.”

We will do everything we can to increase Ukraine's chances of victory

Prime Minister Donald Tusk spoke to President Volodymyr Zelensky about Poland's role in trying to help make Ukraine's full EU membership a reality as soon as possible.

“We will also be working together in all other formats. Today, Poland joined the G7 declaration formulated in Vilnius during the NATO summit. This declaration is intended to mobilise the countries of the free world in support of Ukraine and its security,” said Prime Minister Donald Tusk.

The Prime Minister also stressed that Poland and Ukraine will pursue joint ventures to enhance the defence capabilities of both countries.

“The coming months and years will be a military and logistical challenge for the entire free world,” noted the head of the Polish government.

Prime Minister Donald Tusk also addressed the Ukrainian people, recalling the early days following the outbreak of war with Russia, when many Ukrainian citizens found their second home in Poland.

“Nothing builds mutual respect and friendship like selfless help in times of trial... I want to assure you that you will not be left alone at any time, even the most dramatic,” assured the Prime Minister.

Reinitiating inter-ministerial consultations

Prime Minister Donald Tusk also met with Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal. During a joint statement by both PMs, Donald Tusk stressed the importance of unity and the ability to resolve conflicts. One of the topics of discussion was the blockade at the Polish-Ukrainian border.

“The situation at the border itself has already greatly improved, it is clearly better. These dramatic traffic jams no longer exist,” said the head of the Polish government.

The meeting also dealt with energy cooperation, as well as a joint project to construct road infrastructure between Krakovets and Rivne.

“This is very exciting news that Polish companies, Polish investors could not only be involved in the construction of the motorway but also become co-managers of this project,” stressed the Prime Minister.

The head of the Polish government invited Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal and the entire Ukrainian government to Poland for full-scale intergovernmental consultations.

Prime Minister Donald Tusk also announced that the government would appoint Paweł Kowal as plenipotentiary for supporting Ukraine’s reconstruction.
