Prime Minister during official opening of the Lower Silesian Sports Centre: this is one of the most modern facilities in Poland

The cooperation of the government with local governments is particularly important. It allows the investments close to the citizens to be placed throughout the country. The Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki participated in the official opening of the Lower Silesian Sports Centre on Polana Jakuszycka. This facility will be the hallmark of Lower Silesian sport and one of the most important facilities in the country to be used by athletes, but also citizens and tourists. Investment was implemented with co-financing from the state budget in the amount of PLN 35 million.

- We are opening here one of the most modern centres in Poland and Europe. I am glad that we will be able to develop our talents and that future generations of athletes will be able to be successful, said the Prime Minister, pointing out, that this project is a good example of an investment that combines several areas of life - sport, tourism and health.

Cooperation between state and local government

- This investment combines state and local government forces. It shows how we can implement beautiful investments if we act in harmony for the good of the local community, but in this case for the whole Poland and Polish sport - stressed the Prime Minister.

Cooperation between state and local government is particularly important, as it allows the investments close to the citizens to be placed throughout the country. One of the programs benefitting local governments is the Polish Order Government Fund: Strategic Investments Program. As part of it, non-returnable co-financing is received by local governments throughout Poland. Government funds allow to implement many projects, that are close to the citizens - such as renovation of a school, construction of a kindergarten or a new road.

PLN 13.7 billion for local governments

In addition, PLN 13.7 billion will be allocated to local governments this year. The funds will help cover the expenses of local governments related to the reduction of heat prices for residents and the improvement of energy efficiency in the region. Local governments will also be able to use the funds for current expenses and local investments.

The government guarantees a minimum subsidy for each local government:

  • PLN 2.9 million for each municipality;
  • PLN 6.1 million for each poviat;
  • PLN 32.7 million for each voivodship.

Lower Silesian Sports Centre is a facility fit for 21st century

This facility will be the hallmark of Lower Silesian sport and one of the most important facilities in the country. There is no other such modern and versatile centre in Central and Eastern Europe to be used by athletes, but also citizens and tourists and professional sport. The government supported the Investment with the amount of PLN 35 million.

Cross-country routes and biathlon shooting ranges were created in close cooperation with the FIS (International Ski Federation) and IBU (International Biathlon Union), so that it would be possible to host World Cup competitions, and later also the European Championships and World Championships.

Next year, the Interactive Sports Centre is planned to open, which will include, among others, public winter sports simulators and exhibitions on the impact of modern technology and science on sport.
