Foster families and carers – everyday superheroes

“Few realise the great efforts and incredible kindness put by foster parents into raising children in their care,” said Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki during the Foster Care Gala in Wieliczka. The Head of the Government emphasised the importance of foster families in the lives of children and young people: “One might say that superheroes are back in vogue. To me, you are such superheroes, who fight not so much against comic book villains, but against emotions, distrust, traumas and fears – and win.”

Being a foster family is a combination of everyday struggles and love:  “This is a lot more than just working for the good of the entire society; this is love which gives them prospects, prospects that every child wishes they had,” added the Prime Minister.

The Head of the Government thanked foster families and carers in establishments throughout the country: “For being able to share that which is the most beautiful about you – your heart and positive feelings, for giving our great young people a chance for a better life; for all that, I would like to, from this place in Wieliczka, thank you from the bottom of my heart.”

The Lesser Poland Congress for Family Fostering

The Lesser Poland Congress for Family Fostering began on 11 May in Krakow. During the meetings organised as part of the Congress, participants discussed, among others, the role of and challenges faced by family fostering.

The Congress ended with the Foster Care Gala, which was held in the “Wieliczka” Salt Mine. During the event, distinguished foster families received awards and decorations.
