Prime Minister in Bytom: Polish businesses are the salt of the Polish economy
13.10.2023
The government must serve Polish entrepreneurs. Especially in the crises we have faced in recent years — the pandemic and the international economic crisis caused by Russian aggression in Ukraine. We took immediate action to mitigate their impact. To that end, we introduced the shield programmes to protect employees and employers alike. Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki recently visited the production plant of PanPiek, a company that has received government support for energy-intensive industries.
Government support for companies facing turbulent times
In times of crisis, we protected Polish entrepreneurs with the anti-crisis, anti-inflation and solidarity shield programmes. We froze electricity and gas prices and granted support to help companies survive. Thanks to these measures, we saved nearly 8 million jobs during the pandemic.
“In times of an economic crisis, it is always worth considering how the state behaves. In the last few years, we have been hit by various thunderstorms, but we always stay with entrepreneurs", said Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki.
- Energy Shield — a set of solutions that help to combat high energy and energy source prices. Citizens, vulnerable parties and energy companies all benefit from allowances and compensations to keep the final price of energy lower.
- Solidarity Shield — protects against sharp increases in electricity prices. It is aimed at businesses, local authorities, sensitive entities and households.
- Support programme for energy-intensive industries — to date, over PLN 2.3 billion in support has been granted to businesses. Nearly 3,000 companies are eligible to participate in the programme.
Assistance to Polish entrepreneurs
“We will take care of all entrepreneurs. We will strive to create such conditions for business that the competitive advantage of large customers is not so overwhelming. This is precisely what the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection is for, to take care of Polish entrepreneurs, so that the big international chains, which have a financial advantage anyway, cannot erode the margins of Polish entrepreneurs", Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki concluded.
We help small and medium-sized Polish companies. Local entrepreneurs are of great value to the Polish economy. That is why we have introduced lower social security contribution rates for the smallest businesses. Further, we support entrepreneurs through such activities as:
- reduction of CIT for small taxpayers from 19 per cent to 9 per cent — CIT has de facto become a tax on large multinational corporations,
- the so-called Estonian CIT and many tax relief options, e.g. IP Box, R&D and innovative employee relief.
