Prime Minister in Żywiec: I think the Żywiec Lake will soon become Poland’s tourist pearl
18.07.2022
Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki visited Żywiec. At the Żywiec Lake, the head of the government announced a series of projects that will be implemented there in the coming period. The main investment will be the cleaning and desludging of the Żywiec Lake. Apart from that, the residents of the region and tourists will gain new bike and pedestrian paths, as well as berths for yachts and sailing boats, new beaches and safe descents to the lake.
Important investment at the Żywiec Lake
The Żywiec Lake will be cleaned and desludged. The investment will cover the Southern part of this water body, from the Żywiec side, measuring approx. 100 ha.
“After 50 years, the lake requires very serious desludging. This is a very important project – it has to be done once a half century,” informed Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki.
The head of government added: “With an eye to the natural environment and the beauty of nature, islands will be created so that fowl can nest here – such species and in such numbers as there used to be but now are gone.
New recreational areas
In addition to cleaning the lake, the residents of the region and tourists will gain a bike route around the Żywiec Lake. The project envisages the construction of approx. 40 km of bike routes and a section of a trail towards Kęty and Oświęcim which runs along the Międzybrodzkie Lake.
“I think that for tourists, a unique attraction is the bike path around the Żywiec Lake. This 40-50 km path, I imagine, will be one of the most scenic, gorgeous routes in our whole beautiful country,” emphasised Prime Minister Morawiecki.
In the lake area, there will also be new berths for yachts and sailing boats, boat launching sites, beaches, safe descents to the lake, as well as footpaths and an observation tower.
“We warmly invite all Poles, because I think the Żywiec Lake will soon become Poland’s tourist pearl,” said the Prime Minister.
