Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki attends National Independence Day celebrations

To commemorate National Independence Day, Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki laid flowers at the monuments to the Fathers of Polish Independence and attended the Changing of the Guard and wreath-laying ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. PM Morawiecki also laid a wreath from the Nation at the Marshall Józef Piłsudski Monument.
Commemorated on 11 November each year, National Independence Day is a common holiday for all Poles. It is not only an opportunity to feel joy and pride due to Poland’s rebirth after more than 100 years of partitions but also a time of reflection on today’s political situation from the perspective of the continuity of generations and their common achievements. Today, we commemorate entire generations of Poles whose actions, dedication and sacrifice constitute the foundation of our identity.
Grand celebrations of National Independence Day
On the National Independence Day, Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki laid flowers at the monuments to the Fathers of Polish Independence, i.e. Marshall Józef Piłsudski, Wojciech Korfanty, Roman Dmowski, Ignacy Daszyński, Ignacy Paderewski, Stefan “Grot” Rowecki, Wincenty Witos and Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński.
Afterwards, the Prime Minister attended the ceremonial Changing of the Guard and Remembrance Roll Call ceremony at Warsaw’s Marshall Józef Piłsudski Square. The ceremony began with the joint singing of Poland’s National Anthem. During the ceremony’s course, Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki laid flowers at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, as well as the Marshall Józef Piłsudski Monument.
