Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki: Country Housewives’ Associations uphold Polish tradition, culture and faith
09.07.2022
Country Housewives’ Associations are a beautiful Polish tradition which connects the past and the present. This is why the government is providing financial aid toward achieving the statutory objectives of the Associations. This year, we decided to allocate PLN 70 million to support this activity. We are also organising events, such cooking competitions for Country Housewives’ Associations called “The Battle of Regions”. The competition organised in Myśliwiec, in the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship, was visited by Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki.
We should be proud of the Polish countryside
“The countryside and Country Housewives’ Associations are a wonderful mainstay for Polish tradition,” pointed out the head of government. “We have nothing to be ashamed of and we should never be ashamed of the Polish countryside,” he added.
As the Prime Minister emphasised, women from Country Housewives’ Associations uphold Polish tradition, culture and faith. “We are proud of them because they show us a way toward the future,” he said.
Support for Country Housewives’ Associations
On 1 April 2022, the government started the call for applications for financial aid from the state budget toward achieving the statutory objectives of the Associations. This year, the government decided to allocate PLN 70 million for this purpose. Last year, the amount was PLN 55.8 million.
This is the fifth year in which Country Housewives’ Associations can apply for financial support, thanks to a dedicated Act on their activity. In Poland, there are nearly 11,000 registered Country Housewives’ Associations.
The Battle of Regions
The 8th edition of the cooking competition for Country Housewives’ Associations is currently underway. The tournament is organised by the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development together with the National Support Centre for Agriculture, supported by the Agency for Restructuring and Modernisation of Agriculture and the Agricultural Social Insurance Fund. A total of 257 events have been planned, including 240 on a powiat level, 16 on a voivodeship level and 1 national final.
The aim of the competition is, inter alia, to promote regional dishes, as well as the richness and diversity of local culinary traditions. It is also about promoting and informing about agricultural produce and food products, as well as supporting Country Housewives’ Associations, in particular as regards the activation of local communities.
