Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki establishes COVID-19 Council

The fight against the pandemic continues. Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki has recently established a COVID-19 Council comprising experts in various fields of medicine and socio-economic sciences. The Council’s sessions will also be attended by representatives of the Ministry of Health and other institutions, including the National Health Fund and the Chief Sanitary Inspectorate. Its primary tasks will be to analyse Poland’s current health situation, as well as the social and economic conditions prevailing nationwide. Furthermore, the Council will also proposals for actions to be taken to fight the pandemic.

“I believe that the COVID-19 Council will play a fundamental role in working out the best solutions for the functioning of the health care, but also in terms of social, economic and education affairs, as well as broadly understood security policy of the Polish state,” stressed Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki.

COVID-19 Council – primary tasks

The COVID-19 Council’s primary tasks include the following:

  • analysing and assessing the current health, economic and social conditions in Poland, in terms of preventing and combating the impact of the pandemic;
  • preparing and submitting proposals for actions to prevent and combat the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic with particular emphasis on the health care sector;
  • providing feedback on draft legislation and other government documents with significant impact on issues relating to preventing and combating the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.

COVID-19 Council – members

The COVID-19 Council is composed of experts in various medical fields, as well as socio-economic science specialists. Representatives of the Ministry of Health and other institutions will also participate in the Council’s sessions.
