‘Norwid teaches us that no man is an island. Man is part of a greater whole, but not only "here and now". Man lives as a link between the generations that were before us and a link between the generations that will come after us,’ said the Prime Minister, citing the work of this poet.

Winners of the competitions

Prizes in four competitions relating to Norwid were awarded during the gala.

1)    „For beauty exists to delight... everything there is to know about the life and work of Cyprian Kamil Norwid”, organised by the Ministry of Education and Science for students of public and non-public secondary schools.

2)    Competition for the best book publications on Norwid, promoting the work of this poet, organised by the Institute de Republica.

3)    „Project: Norwid” organised by the "Aid to Poles in the East Foundation" for a graphic design of a T-shirt promoting the life and work of Norwid, addressed directly to children and teenagers aged 6-19.

4)    Art Competition entitled "A box called imagination - Cyprian Kamil Norwid" addressed to students of art schools, organised by Józef Szermentowski Complex of State Art Schools in Kielce. 

Moreover, the Prime Ministers awarded medals to persons who actively promoted the work of the poet on the occasion of the 100th Anniversary of the Restoration of Independence.

‘I wish all winners and Poles success in their efforts to find out what was important for C. K. Norwid to make his life worth living – to learn about and seek the good, the truth and beauty,’ the head of the Polish government said these words to the winners.

Cyprian Kamil Norwid

In 2021, we celebrate the 200th anniversary of the birth of Cyprian Kamil Norwid who is remembered not only as a poet, but also an outstanding graphic artist, painter and philosopher. 

Norwid is a great guide for us and, as the Prime Minister said, a poet who integrates. Norwid is a link that connects the works of many outstanding writers, poets and bards in a timeless manner. He roots them in our times even though one has to make some effort and overcome certain difficulties to get to know his works.
