08.07.2022

The head of the Polish government met with a team of experts from the COVID-19 Council. The meeting participants discussed the current epidemic situation. Based on the analyses presented, they also discussed potential coronavirus-related scenarios that could occur in the autumn. Preparatory measures that can be implemented in our country were also one of the topics.

Monitoring the epidemic situation

The situation in our country related to COVID-19 needs to be monitored. The high rates of vaccination and recovering from the disease are reflected in studies, which confirm the high immunity of Poles.

At this stage, we do not plan to introduce additional restrictions. The number of hospitalisations is an indicator initially adopted by the Council: in the event of less than 5,000 hospitalisations nationwide, nationwide restrictions will not be implemented. Issues related to the number of infections and the course of the disease are constantly monitored so that COVID-19 is countered as quickly and effectively as possible.

Take care of yourself and your loved ones

Remember that you can still have an antigen test free of charge. Your doctor will refer you for the test if:

  • you came in contact with a sick person,
  • you have symptoms of coronavirus e.g. fever, cough, loss of taste or smell.

It is also good to keep your distance, air your rooms regularly and disinfect your hands - especially if you are immunocompromised. The Council recommends that seniors use masks to limit the spread of the virus.

The COVID-19 Council

The Council is a subsidiary body of the Prime Minister. It is made up of specialists from various fields of medicine, socio-economic sciences, as well as representatives of the Ministry of Health and other institutions. Council members meet regularly and their positions are published on www.gov.pl/koronawirus.

The main tasks of the COVID-19 Council are to analyse the current health, but also the economic and social situation in the country. The Council also presents proposals for actions that can be taken to combat the pandemic.
