European Commission proposals in response to the US Inflation Reduction Act

The European Sovereignty Fund and the loosening of state aid rules are proposals aimed at strengthening the EU's strategic autonomy and reducing its dependence in key sectors. The solutions proposed by the European Commission are being discussed, among others, amidst the implementation by the United States of the so-called Inflation Reduction Act, a subsidy programme for the US economy.

Poland, along with several other Member States, draws attention to the risks associated with the proposed instruments, pointing to the need for in-depth analyses also with regard to the impact of the US Inflation Reduction Act on the European market. In Poland's view, the focus should be on building a long-term strategy to increase the competitiveness of the EU single market.
