Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki signed the allocation of PLN 600 million for the development of Huta Stalowa Wola
07.06.2023
Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki visited Huta Stalowa Wola, to which he donated PLN 600 million for further development and investment. Thanks to government support, Huta Stalowa Wola will be able to efficiently produce the state-of-the-art infantry vehicle 'Borsuk', as well as work on the production of the Polish version of the K9 Thunder gun-howitzer. Support for Polish entrepreneurs is one of the government's priorities. Investing in the Polish arms industry is also part of the modernisation and development of the Polish Armed Forces. In 2023, we are allocating nearly 4% of GDP to strengthening our defence potential.
Huta Stalowa Wola will gain new production capacity
Purchase orders for new equipment for the military require an efficient industry at the highest level. Additional funding for the arms industry will increase the production of modern military vehicles for the Polish Army. Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki has confirmed financial support for the development of Huta Stalowa Wola. The total investment outlay will be PLN 664.7 million, of which HSW S.A. will make its own contribution of PLN 64.7 million.
These include funds for the expansion and modernisation of infrastructure and machinery used for production. Some of it will be used to modernise and increase the production capacity of HSW's Autosan Branch in Sanok for the production of civilian and military equipment, including, among others, 4x4 special vehicles.
The modernised Huta Stalowa Wola will produce the state-of-the-art 'Borsuk' amphibious infantry fighting vehicle. This is a vehicle created by Polish engineers, which will soon become available to the Polish Army. The steelworks will also increase its production capacity for vehicles such as the 'Krab' gun-howitzer and 'Rak' mortars. The factory will also be ready to produce foreign-licensed vehicles for our army, including the Polish version of the K9 Thunder gun-howitzer. This means that the world's latest military technology will from now on be produced in Poland.
Support for entrepreneurs is a multidimensional effort
Financial support for the development of Polish enterprises is only part of a multifaceted policy friendly to Polish companies. Since 2015, we have been able to introduce many beneficial changes and solutions for entrepreneurs. We have reduced taxes (e.g. CIT from 19% to 15% and then to only 9% for smaller companies) and introduced the Small ZUS Plus solution, which facilitates the development of smaller companies. We have also simplified the way online accounting is done and introduced a number of tax reliefs (such as the pro-growth relief, R&D relief or IP Box).
We are also creating the conditions and infrastructure for better business. Government funds support the creation and modernisation of infrastructure, and we support entrepreneurs in the face of difficulties - including implementing the shields and support during the pandemic. We are building access roads, developing transport hubs and preparing new areas for investment. Such infrastructure creates new opportunities and attractive conditions for conducting business activities.
The creation of the Polish Investment Zone was also an important step for Polish business. In 2018, we decided to enlarge the area of Special Economic Zones to the whole of Poland - this means easier investment thanks to tax breaks and incentives, as well as support from institutions. Such a decision positively translates into more jobs and investments in every region.
