The head of the Polish government spoke with the newly appointed Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Elizabeth Truss. The prime ministers discussed Polish-British cooperation in the framework of bilateral relations and in NATO, in the context of current challenges in the international arena.

Main topics addressed included Poland's security and support of Ukraine

The prime ministers of Poland and the UK discussed the issues of European security. Our countries cooperate intensively within the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation. British soldiers are stationed in Poland. An important element is strengthening security in the region of NATO's eastern flank. Poland and the UK are also providing support to the fighting Ukraine.

In addition, the agenda of the conversation included topics in the area of economic policy, including countering the rise in energy prices. The politicians discussed the effects of Russia's current energy blackmail and ways to offset them.

New UK Prime Minister

On 5 September 2022, Elizabeth (Liz) Truss became the new leader of the ruling Conservative Party - taking the place of Boris Johnson. She was appointed prime minister of the United Kingdom. Just one day later, on 6 September she was given the mission by Queen Elizabeth II to form a government.
