The Polish Armed Forces Day and the 102nd anniversary of the Battle of Warsaw are an opportunity to thank not only great heroes and commanders. The head of the Polish government also drew attention to the quiet heroes who fought for our freedom. It is also an opportunity to recognize and appreciate the work of all officers: soldiers, firefighters, but also volunteers working in the area of the Oder River.
- I think of all the soldiers, all the officers who quietly, actively do their job - during peacetime, but also during a very tragic environmental event,” the prime minister stressed during a meeting at the Volunteer Fire Department in the village of Uraz.
Action for the Oder River
The head of the Polish government met with representatives of the Volunteer and State Fire Service and soldiers of the Territorial Defense Forces. All the dead fish are being removed by State Fire Service officers. All the activities of the services and volunteers lead to the Oder River's revival.
At the same time, we are constantly working to clarify the causes of the current state of the Oder River. In addition, we are developing solutions to prevent such events in the future.
Nature - our common heritage
Poland's beautiful nature is our common heritage. Forests, lakes and rivers are our national assets. The prime minister stressed that he will do everything not only to fully explain the causes of this tragic environmental incident - but also to develop preventive mechanisms. The government plans to tighten penalties against individuals and institutions that pollute Polish rivers and lakes.
The head of the Polish government thanked officers and soldiers and those working without uniforms - volunteers - for their efforts over the past days.
- Thank you for trying to do everything to allow Odra to recover. I am confident that these losses will be minimized with each passing day and thus we will achieve our goal,” said the prime minister
