Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki thanks the soldiers of the Territorial Defense Forces for their readiness to serve

The Head of the Polish Government took part in the swearing-in of soldiers of the 18th Infantry Division. Capital Territorial Defence Brigade. This is another formation that is being created as part of the Territorial Defense Forces. The Prime Minister drew attention to the important function of the TDS. In times of peace, in addition to performing exercises, they assist in removing the wreckage caused by natural disasters and support the weak. At the same time, they are still ready to serve our homeland and defend our independence.
Territorial Defence Forces
The Prime Minister stressed that the creation of the Territorial Defense Forces was a necessary and appropriate step, which had been confirmed by the experience of our eastern neighbour. The Ukrainian Territorial Defense Forces are actively involved in the fight against the Russian aggressor.
”The Territorial Defense Forces: this special military formation is necessary for the defense of the country. Today you are living proof of the necessary civic attitude, living proof of the will to fight for a better Poland. You are living proof that we will always defend the borders of our homeland”, emphasised the Head of the Polish Government.
18th Capital Territorial Defence Brigade
The Capital Brigade is to specialise in defending the city, but training will also cover issues related to search and rescue. The unit has already established cooperation with the 112th Kiev Territorial Defence Brigade to benefit from its experience..
The oath was taken by 101 soldiers of the 18th Capital Territorial Defence Brigade as well as 68 soldiers conscripted for compensatory training. In total, the Brigade has over 350 soldiers within its structure, of which 300 are volunteers from Warsaw or surrounding towns.
The highest values of serving Poland
The ceremony took place at the Warsaw Uprising Museum. The Prime Minister stressed that this was a special place that reminded us of the service of our predecessors, soldiers of the Home Army. They fought for the good, despite the awareness of the threat to their lives. As the Head of the Polish Government summed up: ”Good is more important than life and greater than death”.
The Prime Minister also addressed the soldiers of the Territorial Defence Forces directly. He thanked them for their absolute readiness to serve their homeland.
"Dear soldiers, you are our pride, our hope and our future. May the spirit of strength and bravery, may the spirit of independence and victory always guide you in the future", the Head of the Polish government wished the soldiers.
