Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki: We Are Pursuing an Equitable Development Agenda Enabling Localities across the Country to Thrive

25.08.2023

We are taking care of the development of Poland’s communal and district areas. Thanks to, among other things, the Government’s Local Investment Fund, we are helping all regions of our country through investments that are close to their residents. We are creating new jobs for them, building nurseries, libraries, fire stations, roads, bypasses, pedestrian crossings or children’s playgrounds. We are also providing modern equipment for hospitals and modernising schools. These things are made possible, among other things, with the money we have recovered from tax fraud.

Making Life in Communes and Districts More Equitable

With the Government’s Local Investment Fund, among other things, we can support local communities so that Poland develops evenly. Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki visited a kindergarten and nursery complex in Niebylec and sports fields in Sędziszów Małopolski.

“We are showing that our vision of sustainable and equitable development is followed by resources and investments, followed by our deeds,” stressed Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki. “We are pursuing a programme that allows localities across the country to develop,” he added.

As the Prime Minister pointed out, national and local governments together are creating a very good environment for parents and children. “Children are the future of the nation. For the nation to grow strong, children must be given the opportunity to be brought up – to attend a crèche and kindergarten, not only in Rzeszów, Kraków or Warsaw but in all districts in Poland,” stressed Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki.

The funding of many investments across the country, such as crèches, kindergartens, libraries, fire stations, sports or cultural facilities, has been made possible through good government policies and the tightening of the tax system.

We Are Making Investments Close to People

We want to equalise development opportunities for all residents of our country. That is why we are making efforts to help communes and districts so that they can make the investments that local communities need.

• Government’s Local Investment Fund – funds for rebuilding local roads, retrofitting hospitals, building crèches or libraries etc.

As part of the programme, more than PLN 13 billion has been allocated to the budgets of communes, districts, cities and towns across Poland for investments close to the people.

• Government’s Strategic Investment Programme – a non-refundable subsidy for public investments made by municipalities, districts, cities and provinces throughout Poland.

With the programme, we are supporting the sustainable development of our country. This includes new roads, sports facilities, refurbished schools, renovated parks or water and sewage investments.

• Support for municipalities in which state-owned farms used to operate under communist rule – As part of the Government’s Strategic Investment Programme, we are also supporting municipalities in which communist state-owned farms used to operate and districts that were forgotten by previous governments.

• Government Road Construction Fund – safe, modern roads and road infrastructure.

Local authorities received funds that made it possible to carry out tasks involving communal and district roads.

• Investment Map – We have launched an interactive investment map where everyone can check what investments have been financed with public funds in their commune – mapainwestycji.gov.pl.

Crèche and Kindergarten Complex in Niebylec

The commune of Niebylec has applied for funding for the construction of a crèche and kindergarten complex. It was granted the sum of PLN 3 million from the Government’s Local Investment Fund. This is one of the higher subsidies in the Podkarpackie Province. There are plans to care for 150 children in the kindergarten and 50 in the crèche.

A modern sports field at the Revd Piotr Skarga Secondary School in Sędziszów Małopolski was opened in 2022. The total cost of the investment was PLN 1.5 million. The amount was obtained by the district from the Government’s Local Investment Fund. The funding made it possible to build a volleyball court, a basketball court, a tennis court and a running track.
