The Government Fund for Local Investments programme enables the implementation of new investment projects that improve the quality of life for citizens across Poland. Renovating roads and kindergartens, setting up nurseries and providing additional equipment to hospitals are just some examples of initiatives undertaken by local authorities thanks to government funding. Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki visited Kalwaria Zebrzydowska in the Małopolskie Voivodeship, where the stadium of a local sports club – MKS Kalwarianka – is undergoing modernisation, with funding provided under the GFLI. To the residents, the investment project will bring such improvements as a new running track around the stadium’s pitch and a renovated car park in its vicinity. During his visit, the Prime Minister also met with firefighters from the Przytkowice Volunteer Fire Department.
PLN 2.5 million in GFLI funding for the modernisation of Kalwaria Zebrzydowska’s stadium and car park
Thanks to funding provided under the Government Fund for Local Investments, the stadium of MKS Kalwarianka in Kalwaria Zebrzydowska is being refurbished. The most significant improvement will be the addition of a new 400-metre-long running track with six lanes and a synthetic surface. The project also includes such things as modernising coaches’ boxes, installing running track lighting, as well as replacing the stadium’s goals and its current fencing.
GFLI funding will also cover the refurbishment of a car park near the facility. This includes the renovation of pavement and parking spaces, as well as the modernisation of the stormwater drainage system and pedestrian access routes, among others. Furthermore, the project includes the renovation of drainage and sewerage systems and the replacement of lighting.
Nearly PLN 2.5 million in government funding has been provided for the stadium modernisation and car park refurbishment project.
Government Fund for Local Investments provides funding for projects across Poland
The Government Fund for Local Investments is a programme under which government funding is provided to municipalities, counties and towns and cities throughout Poland. Such support is non-repayable as it is provided under the COVID-19 Prevention Fund.
By now, the Government Fund for Local Investments has already transferred more than PLN 13 billion to local government units, which can use such funding to implement projects aimed at improving the residents’ quality of life, including the construction of nurseries, kindergartens and roads, as well as other necessary initiatives.
Przytkowice Volunteer Fire Department gains a new fire engine
During his visit to Kalwaria Zebrzydowska, PM Morawiecki also met with firefighters from the Przytkowice Volunteer Fire Department. Apart from friendly conversations, this was also an excellent opportunity to showcase the Department’s brand-new fire engine acquired recently by the firefighters to replace their worn-down Jelcz truck. This means improved safety not only for the residents but also for the firefighters themselves, who now have a reliable tool to serve their local community every day.
Valued at nearly PLN 1.1 million, the VFD’s new fire engine features a full set of equipment needed for rescue and firefighting operations. Its purchase was made possible thanks to subsidies from several sources, including the Provincial Environmental Protection and Water Management Fund in Kraków, the Marshal’s Office of the Małopolska Region, the National Fire and Rescue System, the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management, the Wadowice County Office, as well as Kalwaria Zebrzydowska municipality budget and Przytkowice VFD’s own funds.
