Prime Minister: the world needs independently thinking scientists, sociologists, economists and politicians
19.09.2021
The three-day "Poland the Great Project" (PWP) Congress concluded on Sunday. The theme of the second part of the edition was "Poland - Europe - Transformation." PWP is a meeting of expert circles and specialists from many fields. Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki took part in the ceremony of presenting the "Courage and Credibility" medal. This year the award was given to Prof. Gunnar Heinsohn - a German writer, sociologist and economist. Laureates of this award care for the image of Poland and its citizens throughout the world.
We are a nation that has experienced in a unique way totalitarianism from the East and the West. A nation that has experienced captivity and greatness. We are uniquely positioned to be able to glue the continent together. Not according to contemporary neo-liberal fashions or other general correctness," said the head of government Mateusz Morawiecki. He also added, "I thank the Professor for his friendship directed towards Poland. He recognises our cultural heritage. In his opinion, our history is not a burden. He sees a universal value of Poland in this heritage, a value which we carry with us and which we also want to carry in the future. A value beautifully reflected in solidarity, as a movement and an idea - the Republic of Solidarity.
The Congress "Poland the Great Project" is one of the largest expert meetings in the country
This year's edition of the event consists primarily of debates on the development challenges that Poland will face in the coming decades. The first May part of the Congress was held under the motto: "XXI century - Security - Culture". The September part had the following theme: "Poland - Europe - Transformation."
The PWP Congress is the largest meeting of conservative experts, opinion formers and politicians in our country. Numerous specialists from many different fields took part in the debates that addressed important issues for the further development of Poland.
Presentation of the "Courage and Credibility" medal
The "Courage and Credibility" medal is awarded to people who actively work for the PWP Congress. The awardees also care about the image of our country and Polish citizens throughout the world. The badge is awarded to righteous and fair-minded people who contribute to the understanding of Polish history, tradition and present-day life.
In the history, the medal was presented to:
• prof. Ewa Thompson,
• sir Roger Scruton,
• Irena Lasota,
• dr Anca-Maria Cernea,
• maestro Fabio Biondi,
• prof. George Weigel.
"Knowledge, which is growing at a dizzying pace, hits cognitive barriers in humans. Even in research teams, this division into fields is becoming more and more fragmented. Today, this knowledge needs people of the renaissance. People who combine its various aspects. Prof. Gunnar Heinsohn, who perfectly combines knowledge from many areas, is such a person. This is very much needed today," stressed Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki.
Laureate of this year's 9th edition of the Congress "Poland the Great Project"
On 19 September, the medal "Courage and Credibility" was awarded to the German writer, sociologist, economist and professor emeritus at the University of Bremen, Gunnar Heinsohn. This year's laureate is the author of numerous publications on topics ranging from economics, demography (including the relationship of demography to security policy and genocide), to chronological theories.
"We can address words of gratitude to the Professor because he describes our reality with sensitivity and affection for the Republic of Poland and the Polish people. I thank the jury for this choice. I consider it to be extremely apt. It is very interesting for a man who understands the borderline of cultures, as he was born in Gdynia. The award goes to a man who understands Poland and has a heart for Poland. Congratulations and sincere thanks," said Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki.
