Russian aggression against Ukraine - stop fake news!

02.03.2022

In recent days, false information about the alleged mistreatment of particular countries citizens by Polish and Ukrainian services has appeared in the public space. Manipulated photos and videos circulate on social media to discredit and tarnish the image of both Ukraine and Poland. The media have become another theatre of war, which is why we urge you not to be manipulated. The target of disinformation attacks is not only Ukraine, but also the Western world.

#PolandFirstToHelp.

Poland helps everyone regardless of the country of origin. All foreigners fleeing the war in Ukraine are welcomed in Poland and receive the help they need. Ministry of the Interior and Administration issued an announcement in this matter.

We are in constant contact with the diplomatic missions of our foreign partners in Poland to ensure the safety of their citizens. The heads of the institutions emphasize the strategic cooperation, professionalism and commitment of Polish services at the border. They are also impressed by the volunteers involved in helping refugees. Recently, we have received official thanks from representatives of Angola, Tanzania, Morocco, Kenya and South Africa, among others.

From February 24 to today, Poland has already accepted over 474,000 refugees, and only in the last day this number amounted to nearly 100,000 people. In cooperation with the Ukrainian Side, we contribute to a better flow of traffic.

In the face of the enormous danger in which Europe finds itself, we call for the fight against fake news and propaganda. In this difficult time, in particular, the media should guard the credibility of the presented materials and inform their recipients about the existing threat. The dissemination of information that comes from unreliable sources can bring a lot of damage, both to people harmed by the war, and to the efficiency in delivering help by the services. Let us be responsible.

Polish services verify and react to false reports on an ongoing basis.

Always use official sources of information. Current and reliable information on the actions of the Polish government towards the situation in Ukraine, refugee aid and humanitarian aid is available on the official website, the accounts of the Ministry of Interior and Administration, Boarder Guard, and the Chancellery of the Prime Minister on Twitter.
