The government cares for the interests of the Polish rural communities

The meeting with the government’s advisory body, the Council of Political Advisers, lasted several hours. One of the major topics discussed was the seven key changes under the Polish Deal for the Polish rural communities – Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki posted on social media after the event.

In recent years, the government has introduced legal protection of land from sale. It has allocated more than PLN 80 million to support the mission carried out by Rural Homemakers’ Clubs. It has also negotiated €32 billion for Polish farmers under the Common Agricultural Policy. The Polish Deal means introducing more solutions and development opportunities for the Polish rural communities.

Polish Deal for Polish rural communities – 7 key changes

The government has prepared an ambitious development strategy to implement 7 key changes for the Polish rural communities. The new solutions will benefit farmers but also all of us. Polish agriculture is vital to healthy food on our tables and further development of the country.

7 issues of the Polish rural communities

  1. Subsidies above the EU average for small- and medium-sized farms;
  2. Retirement from farming without transferring farms;
  3. A new crop insurance system for farmers;
  4. PLN 15,000 for building a storage reservoir on a farm;
  5. Free places for agricultural trade in towns/cities;
  6. PLN 4.5 billion for the reconstruction of Polish processing and sales and production of food in farms.
  7. More money to combat ASF and boost pig production.

Energy crisis in Europe

The Council of Policy Advisers also discussed economic strategy in the context of the current energy crisis in Europe. On 5 October, an informal meeting of EU heads of state and government was held in Brdo (Slovenia). The leaders discussed current issues concerning, among other things, rising energy prices in Europe. During the summit, Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki stressed that he was one of several people to outline the risks associated with energy prices. To a large extent, they are artificially shaped by the “turning off the taps” by Russia and Gazprom.

Rising energy prices will be on the agenda of the next European Council meeting planned for 21–22 October in Brussels.
