Waldemar Buda - the Minister of Development and Technology

At the request of the Prime Minister, Mateusz Morawiecki, the President, Andrzej Duda, appointed Waldemar Buda as the Minister of Development and Technology. The appointment act was awarded at the Presidential Palace. Apart from the head of state and the head of government, the ceremony was also attended by members of the Council of Ministers. It was not the only important event. During the ceremony, the President also awarded an appointment act for the rank of superintendent of the Tax and Customs Service. Prime Minister Morawiecki gifted commemorative honorary swords to the officers.

New Minister of Development and Technology

At the request of the Prime Minister, Mateusz Morawiecki, the President, Andrzej Duda appointed Waldemar Buda as the Minister of Development and Technology. 

Waldemar Buda used to hold the position of Secretary of State at the Ministry of Development Funds and Regional Policy from 15 November 2019. Previously, from 4 June 2019, he held this position in the Ministry of Investment and Development. 

He graduated in law from the Faculty of Law and Administration of the University of Łódź. In 2011, he qualified as a legal adviser and opened a legal adviser's office. From 2011, as a legal adviser, he worked at the Agency for Restructuring and Modernisation of Agriculture - the paying agency for the European Agricultural Fund.

In 2014, he exercised his mandate as a councillor of the Łódź City Council. In 2015, he used to work with the legal aid office of Andrzej Duda, candidate for the President of the Republic of Poland. During the parliamentary elections of 2015, he was elected a member of the Sejm of the Republic of Poland. As an MP, he dealt with issues concerning tenants' rights and the protection of cooperatives' rights, including helping more than 2,000 people through free legal advice provided by his MP's office. He also co-wrote the law on bailiffs and participated in the work on amendments to the Civil Procedure Code. He served as Vice-Chairman of the Extraordinary Committee for Changes to the Codifications. 

The President awarded general-rank nominations to officers of the Tax and Customs Service  

During a ceremony, held at the Presidential Palace, the President Andrzej Duda awarded nomination acts for the rank of superintendent of the tax and Customs Service. The head of the Polish government presented the officers with commemorative swords of honour. 

- The credit for the fact that Poland is currently one of the most rapidly developing countries and has changed so much over the last years, and that the system works efficiently, goes to you as well. Congratulations! - said the President, Andrzej Duda. 

The Tax and Customs Service is a unified, uniformed formation comprising of officers within the National Revenue Administration (KAS). It was created as a result of a merger of tax administration, customs administration and fiscal control. 

Tasks carried out by the Tax and Customs Service include detecting and combating irregularities that potentially jeopardise the financial security of the state. Officers also deal with ensuring protection and security of the customs territory of the European Community - including compliance with the law concerning importation and exportation of goods from this territory, as well as performing duties, in particular within the scope of excise tax and gambling and lottery tax.
