The anti-crisis shield is working. The total value of the granted aid - as at August 19th - amounts to PLN 130,15 billion.

According to the preliminary data published by the Central Statistical Office of 17 August 2020, June brought the first revival and increase of Polish exports of goods by 0.3% in comparison to the previous year, after significant declines in April and May. That is a direct result of the gradual restoration of the economy, as well as the lifting of restrictions on partnering markets.

According to a quick estimate of the Central Statistical Office, the seasonally unadjusted GDP decreased 8.2% in Q2 2012 per annum. This result exceeds the prognoses of the Ministry of Economic Development and the market consensus, which were estimated at -8.6%. In comparison to the previous quarter, the second quarter of this year brought an actual decrease in the GDP by 8.9%. The presented values are preliminary and may be subject to review - the final and detailed data will be presented on 31 August.

The data of the Central Registration and Information on Business shows that the current number of active businesses is higher in comparison to the beginning of 2020 and amounts to 2.54 million companies. We have been noting a gradual growth in companies that are resuming business within the past four months.

In 2019, all three types of economic poverty have decreased, i.e. absolute poverty, relative poverty and official poverty.

PLN 6 billion from the Covid-19 fund - PLN 5 billion for municipalities and PLN 1 billion for districts - to subsidise local investments, close to home - this is the effect of the Local Investments Fund, initiated by President Andrzej Duda. The funds granted by the government will be available to use for investments implemented close to the people, i.e. schools, kindergartens, waterworks, hospitals or social welfare homes, as well as other activities within our small Homelands. The government’s large investment support programme will be available to all municipalities and districts in our country. The Fund will act as a shield for local governments.
