On 22 November 2021 Foreign Minister Zbigniew Rau took part in a high-level conference organised in Vienna by Chancellor Alexander Schallenberg.

- Challenges connected with enhanced contacts with Eurasia, the Organisation’s enlargement to include candidate countries or cooperation with the G20 are among the issues faced by the OECD that are of key importance from the point of view of Polish foreign policy - emphasised Head of the Foreign Service Arkady Rzegocki during a conference held at the Warsaw Stock Exchange.

The EU Foreign Affairs Council meeting in the format of development cooperation ministers was held in Brussels on Friday, 19 November. The ministers talked about the humanitarian situation in Ethiopia, Sudan, and Afghanistan, the importance of water in development cooperation, in particular in Central Asia, as well as the EU’s support for global distribution of COVID-19 vaccines. The officials also held a discussion with Administrator of the US Agency for International Development (USAID) Samantha Power on the most important challenges facing development assistance, as well as the future of EU-US cooperation in this area. Poland was represented by Undersecretary of State Paweł Jabłoński.

Minister Zbigniew Rau had a phone call with his Iranian counterpart who wanted to personally thank the people and government of Poland for 1 million doses of Astra Zeneca vaccines donated by Poland to Iran.

Undersecretary of State at the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs Marcin Przydacz met in London on 18 November with James Cleverly, UK Secretary of State for the Middle East and North Africa, and Wendy Morton, UK Under Secretary of State for European Neighbourhood and the Americas.

On 17 November 2021, the heads of missions of the states parties to the 1899 and 1907 Hague Conventions, represented in Warsaw, met the Polish candidate to the position of Secretary-General of the Permanent Court of Arbitration, Professor Marcin Czepelak, Ambassador of the Republic of Poland to the Kingdom of the Netherlands.

On 16 November 2021, Undersecretary of State at the MFA Paweł Jabłoński participated in a conference titled Sustaining the Rights and Human Development of Palestinian Refugees, convened by the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and the Kingdom of Sweden to enhance international commitment and solidarity with Palestinian refugees.

The Foreign Affairs Council meeting on Monday focused on the developments at the Belarusian border, the EU’s involvement in the Western Balkans and the Sahel region, and work on the Strategic Compass as regards the Common Security and Defence Policy (during a joint session of foreign affairs and defence ministers).

Today, Polish diplomacy is marking a special event in our country’s history. On 16 November 1918, Józef Piłsudski sent a telegram to world leaders to notify the international community about the rebirth of an independent Polish State after 123 years under foreign rule.
