On 30 September 2021, Poland’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Zbigniew Rau held the first telephone conversation with Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs Liz Truss to discuss the good state of bilateral relations, similar views on the most important issues on the international agenda, and returning to regular visits after the pandemic.

On Wednesday, 29 September, over 100,000 AstraZeneca vaccine doses against COVID-19 were dispatched from Warsaw to Cairo. The donation of vaccines to Egypt is an expression of solidarity with an important Polish partner in North Africa.

Minister Zbigniew Rau and Olaf Scholz, the SPD (Social Democratic Party) chancellor candidate, spoke on the phone today. The conversation took place at the request of the Polish side in the context of Germany’s parliamentary elections held on 26 September 2021.

- Poland supports Yemen’s sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity. It is necessary to work towards a sustainable political solution. Therefore, we are calling on all parties to engage constructively in this process under the auspices of the UN, to cease all hostilities, and stop the violence, said Deputy Minister Paweł Jabłoński during Polish-Yemeni political consultations held in Warsaw on 28 September 2021.

On 20-23 September, Minister Zbigniew Rau visited New York to participate in the high-level week that opened the 76th session of the United Nations General Assembly. This year’s debate focused on post-pandemic economic recovery as well as issues related to human rights observance, climate, natural resources, and facilitation of the UN functioning.

On September 23-24, the Head of the Foreign Service, Arkady Rzegocki, was with the delegation in Brussels. The purpose of the visit was to talk with the management of the European External Action Service on the promotion of Polish candidates for positions in European structures, as well as meetings with Polish diplomats and delegated experts in the EEAS and Polish representatives in the European Commission.
