16.09.2021Memorial to Polish WWII victims to be built in Berlin“Today’s presentation by German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas of the concept of ‘a place of remembrance and of encounters with Poland’ in Berlin is the first important step on the way to a symbolic commemoration of Polish victims of World War II. The progress in realising this concept is also the outcome of sustained efforts of Polish diplomacy,” said Deputy Minister Szymon Szynkowski vel Sęk at today’s press conference. The project presentation by the head of German diplomacy on Wednesday, 15 September 2021, is the result of over six months of intensive work by a group of experts commissioned by the German MFA as well as the Bundestag’s earlier work related to this idea. The concept, presented by the top German diplomat and developed in agreement with representatives of all political forces in Germany as well as with the participation of Polish historians, unequivocally determines the construction of the monument to Polish WWII victims in Berlin.
