On 22 December 2020, at the request of the Historical Diplomacy Council, Minister of Foreign Affairs Zbigniew Rau awarded prizes and honourable mentions in the fourth edition of the history competition.

The new multiannual programme for 2021-2030 was the key point on the agenda of today's 19th Development Cooperation Programme Board session chaired by the Deputy Foreign Minister and National Coordinator for Development Cooperation Paweł Jabłoński. The session was held remotely.

- Poland is sending a humanitarian aid transport to Sudan. This is yet another solidarity measure initiated this year by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for a country which has found itself in dire need - said Deputy Foreign Minister Paweł Jabłoński announcing the donation of material aid for Sudan.

"European Union and Latin America and the Caribbean are natural allies in the defence of multilateralism. We share the same vision when it comes to shaping global issues", said minister Zbigniew Rau in his address during the ministerial meeting of the EU and Latin America and the Caribbean, which was held via video conference.

“The State of Qatar is one of Poland’s closest and trusted partners in the Middle East. Our positive experience related to the LNG import from Qatar should soon pay off in the form of fruitful trade and investment cooperation, as well as in other fields of economy and business,” said Deputy Minister Paweł Jabłoński following a meeting with his Qatari counterpart Ahmad Hassan Al-Hamadi.

Piotr Wilczek, Polish Ambassador to the USA, won this year’s edition of the Amicus Oeconomiae award. It is granted to Polish diplomats for outstanding contribution to promoting the Polish economy and supporting Polish entrepreneurs abroad. Also honoured were Polish Ambassador in Beijing Wojciech Zajączkowski and Consul General in Cologne Jakub Wawrzyniak. The award, in the form of a commemorative statuette, was presented by Minister of Foreign Affairs Prof. Zbigniew Rau during today’s ceremony which was an opportunity to sum up the activities of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the area of economic diplomacy. The meeting was also attended by Andrzej Gut-Mostowy, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Economic Development, Labour and Technology, and Grażyna Ciurzyńska, acting President of the Polish Investment and Trade Agency.

On this day in 1948, the United Nations General Assembly adopted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the fundamental document to set international standards of human rights protection.

On 8 December 2020, Poland’s Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Marcin Przydacz and his Kazakh counterpart Margulan Baimukhan held political consultations that confirmed the good state of relations between the two countries.

- Poland contributes to the stabilisation of the Mediterranean Basin. Our soldiers and experts take part in the Irini operation. We are also present in the UN peacekeeping mission in Lebanon, - said the Deputy Foreign Minister Marcin Przydacz during the “Rome MED – Mediterranean Dialogues” videoconference held on 4 December 2020.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Polish Television (TVP) will work together to seek new methods and opportunities for promoting Polish culture and the country’s image abroad. According to a letter of intent signed in Warsaw on Thursday, 3 December, by Secretary of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Szymon Szynkowski vel Sęk and Mateusz Matyszkowicz, a member of the TVP management board, the two institutions will take joint action to improve the positive image of Poles and Poland in foreign countries.
