Thanks to listening to the needs of people, we have significantly changed many areas of the functioning of the state for the better – said Minister Marlena Maląg, summarising in the Sejm the last 6 years of shaping the family policy.

On 8 February, the regulation of the Minister of Family and Social Policy on homes for mothers with minor children and pregnant women entered into force. Thanks to it, the maximum period of stay in the home for mothers and pregnant women has been extended, in reasonable cases, even up to 18 months.

– In 2021 – despite the pandemic – more than 450 thousand persons aged 60 and more participated in the „Active Plus” government programme, including more than 98 thousand persons with disabilities. During this period, we allocated PLN 40 million for it and within five years this amount will be PLN 200 million.

In January, the registered unemployment rate reached 5.6% – as it results from the preliminary data of the Ministry of Family and Social Policy. This is by 0.2% more than a month ago, but by 0.9% less than a year ago.

Centres for Social Services - a new aspect of social policy in Poland, which is to make it easier for communes to provide various types of social services adjusted to the needs of a local community.

A mother of four, five or more children without the right to receive even a minimum pension? Not in Poland! Since 2019, such women can expect a parental supplementary benefit under the „Mother 4+” programme. Last year, it was used by more than 66.5 thousand persons.

Awarding communes showing particular commitment to activities for families in a local community, as well as promoting good practices – these are the main objectives of the „Self-Government PRO FAMILIA” competition.– I warmly invite all communes for which family is important to participate in this year’s edition of the competition. Applications can be submitted until the end of March – indicates the Minister of Family and Social Policy, Marlena Maląg.

A non-governmental organisation may receive even PLN 250,000 in funding for the implementation of projects addressed to senior citizens. The Ministry of Family and Social Policy is starting a new edition of the "Active+" programme. The government will allocate PLN 40 million this year to support projects for seniors.

According to Eurostat, the unemployment rate in Poland in December 2021 was 2.9 percent. This is the second result in the European Union. In December, 504 thousand Poles were without work. 79 thousand less than in December 2020.

2022 has brought important changes to the programme "Family 500+". Since January, the programme is operated by the Social Insurance Institution, taking over from local governments the collection of applications for this child benefit. Moreover, from the new year, applications for 500+ can be submitted only electronically, and the money will go to the parents' bank account.
