Polish-Lithuanian Consultations on Development Cooperation

On 13 February 2026, Poland and Lithuania held director-level consultations on development and humanitarian cooperation, providing an opportunity to exchange experiences and discuss strategic directions of development cooperation of the two countries.
The discussions covered the Polish and Lithuanian development cooperation systems, including funding mechanisms, coordination structures, and cooperation with international partners. Both sides underlined the importance of effectiveness, and transparency in delivering assistance.
Development and humanitarian support for Ukraine was a key topic. Poland and Lithuania reaffirmed their continued commitment to supporting Ukraine, both through humanitarian assistance and long-term reconstruction efforts.
In addition, Poland’s policy on development and humanitarian cooperation in Africa was discussed, including geographic and sectoral priorities and the potential for joint initiatives.
Finally, in the context of Lithuania’s upcoming Presidency of the Council of the EU in 2027, the parties exchanged views on key development and humanitarian policy priorities at the EU level.
