Polish-Lithuanian Consultations on Development Cooperation

On 16 September 2026, Polish-Lithuanian consultations at the level of department directors on development and humanitarian aid were held in Vilnius. The meeting provided an opportunity to exchange information on the current priorities of both countries and to discuss prospects for further bilateral cooperation as well as cooperation within the framework of the European Union.

One of the main topics of discussion was Lithuania’s preparations for assuming the Presidency of the Council of the European Union in the first half of 2027. In this context, the parties exchanged views on the future direction of EU development policy and on challenges related to the implementation of priorities in this area.

During the meeting, the parties also discussed ongoing development and humanitarian assistance for Ukraine. Poland and Lithuania reaffirmed their long-term commitment to supporting Ukraine and emphasized the importance of coordinating international efforts aimed at ensuring the country's recovery and strengthening its resilience.
