Stefan Banach Scholarship Programme
The Banach Scholarship Programme supports the socio-economic progress of developing countries by enabling their citizens to undertake free of charge second-degree (Master's) studies in Poland, taught in Polish or English, under a scholarship funded by the Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange (NAWA).
Who is eligible for the scholarship?
In 2025, the Programme is directed at citizens of 36 developing countries: Albania, Angola, Argentina, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Brazil, Georgia, India, Indonesia, Iraq, Iran, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kenya, Kosovo, Lebanon, Mexico, Moldova, Mongolia, Montenegro, Nigeria, North Macedonia, Palestine, Papua New Guinea, Peru, the Philippines, Rwanda, Senegal, Serbia, Tanzania, Tunisia, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, and Vietnam.
The enrolment of scholarship recipients is conducted by NAWA in accordance with the current year’s offer, the details of which are published on NAWA’s website. In NAWA podcast former scholarship holders share (in English) their first-hand experience about the Banach Programme.
What does the scholarship offer?
The Banach Scholarship Programme enables free continuation of second-degree studies at Polish public universities in Polish or English. Prospective students choose their field of study at universities supervised by the Minister of Science and Higher Education, based on the offer presented by universities that have signed/concluded a framework agreement with NAWA. Admission decisions are made by the universities to which candidates apply. Those admitted to study in Poland may apply for the Banach Scholarship Programme. The scholarship is granted/awarded through a call for applications. Studies in Polish may be preceded by a one-year preparatory course (also covered by the scholarship).
The programme is implemented by the Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange. Questions regarding the Banach Scholarship Programme can be sent to: banach@nawa.gov.pl
