Support of local government reform through implementation of participatory strategic planning in municipalities in central, north and western Ukraine

The Foundation in Support of Local Democracy carried out a project sup¬porting the process of decentralisation in Ukraine in cooperation with the fol¬lowing Ukrainian partners: European Dialogue (Lviv), Creative Centre Charity Foundation (Kyiv), Siversky Institute of Regional Studies (Chernihiv), "Policy Analysis Office" NGO (Sumy), and the "Synergy Regional and Local Development Fund" charity organisation (Poltava).
Implementation of the project resulted in comprehensive development strategies for selected hromadas. The ability of local government units, non-governmental organisations and other stakeholders to apply participation mechanisms while working on strategic documents was improved. Non-governmental organizations partnering in the project improved their ability to provide consulting and advisory services to Ukrainian local government as regards participatory strategic planning and became hubs supporting the implementation and monitoring of participatory strategic planning in hromadas.
