Tanzania

Tanzania has been listed as a priority beneficiary of Poland’s Official Development Assistance since 2004.

Polish Aid in Tanzania carries out initiatives aimed at improving the conditions and quality of schooling at all levels of education. We improve school and teaching infrastructure and enhance qualifications of the teaching staff. Polish Aid priorities also include environment protection projects. We implement actions to improve water management, including increased access to water and sanitary infrastructure. Moreover, we promote sustainable agriculture. Polish Aid supports the development of entrepreneurship and modernisation of various sectors of Tanzania’s economy. We help to create new jobs and promote higher employment rates among young people and women.

Thanks to the Polish-Tanzanian loan agreement concluded in 2015, Polish entrepreneurs invest in agricultural mechanisation and food security in Tanzania.

Young Tanzanians can undertake studies in Poland under the Stefan Banach scholarship programme (the Ignacy Łukasiewicz scholarship programme until 2020) for foreign students, including those from African countries. The programme is overseen by the Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange. Tanzania is also a beneficiary country of actions under the Polish Aid volunteering programme.
