As he explained, Poland will be the leading state in terms of logistical and organizational matters. At the same time, the head of government once again ruled out the presence of Polish soldiers in Ukraine. Leaders of the Coalition of the Willing adopted the Paris Declaration today, confirming their intent to pursue Euro-American cooperation.

Prime Minister Donald Tusk met today in Warsaw with the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy. Earlier, during the European Council, EU leaders decided to grant Ukraine a loan of EUR 90 billion. "I am convinced that Ukraine is now in a stronger position vis-à-vis Russia. With us, you have stronger cards,” Prime Minister Donald Tusk said during the meeting. Thanks to these funds, Ukraine will be able to continue fighting in defence of its independence. This will also strengthen its position vis-à-vis Russia. The head of the Polish government stressed that the shared interest of both proud nations is an independent Poland, an independent Ukraine, and a safe Europe.

"We have a simple choice: either money today, or blood tomorrow. I'm not talking about Ukraine; I'm talking about Europe. All European leaders must finally rise to the occasion,” Prime Minister Donald Tusk said ahead of the European Council meeting devoted to financial support for Ukraine. EU leaders must decide on the use of frozen Russian assets, which are crucial to strengthening Kyiv's defence capabilities. "This is necessary because preserving Ukraine's independence moves the risk of war away from Poland's borders,” the head of government explained. During the Brussels summit, EU leaders are trying to find a response to objections, including those raised by Belgium, which holds a significant share of the frozen Russian assets.

"Europe has finally understood that the eastern border, and its protection, is our shared responsibility. It is not merely a national obligation of Poland, Finland or Lithuania. It is a common European task and a common European responsibility,” Prime Minister Donald Tusk said during the Eastern Flank Summit in Helsinki, the first meeting in this format. "This year may prove decisive for our security and must become a year of full solidarity among Polish women and men, as well as among politicians, around the issue of security. When it comes to security, there is only one party - Poland,” said Prime Minister Donald Tusk in his address during the first "Science for Business” Congress. The head of government appealed to the Polish political class to refrain in the coming year from quarrels and political skirmishes. He reminded that Poland will be safe only if all of us, without exception, serve the security of our state. Recent events involving acts of sabotage on the railways, the hybrid war conducted by Russia, and the armed conflict in Ukraine show how important unity should be for all Poles. In this context, science and business must also act hand in hand, because modern conflicts are decided not only on the battlefield, but also in cyberspace and in outer space.

Prime Minister Donald Tusk presented to the Sejm information on the acts of sabotage that have recently occurred on the Warsaw-Lublin railway line. "The intensive work of the security services, the police and the prosecutor's office has made it possible to identify those responsible. They are two Ukrainian citizens, including one from Donbas, cooperating with the Russian services,” the head of government reported. The case concerns two confirmed acts of sabotage in the locality of Mika and in the vicinity of Puławy. "From the point of view of state security, this is perhaps the most serious situation since the outbreak of the Russian-Ukrainian war,” assessed the Prime Minister. At the same time, he appealed not to stir up anti-Ukrainian sentiment, as this is in Moscow's interest. The Prime Minister also announced the introduction of the third-level "Charlie” alert on certain railway lines.

Prime Minister Donald Tusk paid a visit to the construction site of KGHM's new mining shaft in Retków. The investment will help the Polish company maintain its copper production levels over the coming decades. It will also create new jobs and give a boost to the local economy. "Copper is an absolutely strategic raw material. Our security will depend on its extraction,” the Prime Minister said. Poland has the largest copper deposits in Europe and is among the leading producers of this raw material in the world.
