Given the tense situation in the Middle East and the ongoing war across our border, today's meeting of the Council of Ministers was special. In addition to members of the government, it was attended also by the head of the National Security Office and generals representing the Polish Army. The main topic of discussion was the security of Poland. Prime Minister Donald Tusk has no doubts that Poland and Europe must act jointly and severally on this issue. Poland wants to participate in the construction of the so-called iron dome, which will protect the European sky.

Prime Minister Donald Tusk met with Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen in Warsaw. The two heads of government discussed regional security issues, as well as further assistance to Ukraine and the priorities of the European Union. Donald Tusk pointed out that Europe needs to have its own effective missile and air defence system.

The main topic of talks between the leaders of Polish, Germany and France was security in the region - they speak with one voice in this area. It is now crucial to support Ukraine in its war against the Russian aggressor. Donald Tusk's conversation with Olaf Scholz and Emmanuel Macron also focused on increasing the defence potential of Europe as a whole. The next Weimar Triangle summit will take place in Warsaw in early summer.

Prime Minister Donald Tusk and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen had an in-depth discussion on the new proposals that the Commission will present later today.

It was a historic visit and a serious conversation, at a serious moment. Prime Minister Donald Tusk and President Andrzej Duda met with US President Joe Biden in Washington. It was an opportunity to commemorate the 25th anniversary of Polish's accession to NATO, but also to talk about the future. Prime Minister Donald Tusk stressed that Poland and the United States have common views on security issues, including the need to support Ukraine in its fight against Russia. The U.S. also announced plans to provide a $2 billion loan to Poland to purchase 96 Apache helicopters.

On March 12, 1999, our country was admitted to the North Atlantic Alliance – the largest and strongest defense pact in the history of the modern world. Polish's accession to NATO was one of the most important decisions after 1989. This is a great, bipartisan work of which we should be proud.

A weekly meeting of the Council of Ministers was held at the Chancellery of the Prime Minister. Due to the visit of Prime Minister Donald Tusk to Washington, the meeting was chaired by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defence Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz. The Council of Ministers discussed and adopted, m.in, new regulations on the functioning of government administration and a resolution that will update the National Oncology Strategy.

Softening the provisions of the Green Deal, including in particular those concerning fallow land, or assistance to minimise the surplus of grain – these were the specifics presented by Prime Minister Donald Tusk during his second meeting with the leaders of the protesting groups.

Women's health and lives are paramount. Doctors and hospitals must comply with the law that applies to termination of pregnancy. In connection with this, Prime Minister Donald Tusk announced specific decisions that will change the practice of abortion proceedings. These are, m.in, consequences for hospitals for refusing legitimate abortions.

Prime Minister Donald Tusk is in constant contact with Brussels on the EU Green Deal and the needs of Polish farmers. The head of the government also continues his meetings with the leaders of European countries – this time he went to Romania. And on Saturday, at 10.00 a.m., the Prime Minister will meet again with representatives of farmers. During the press conference, the Prime Minister also referred to issues related to the termination of pregnancy.
