18.12.2021All government programmes are guided by the main goal – the prosperity and comfort of the lives of Poles. Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki visited the Single Mothers’ Home at the Archdiocese of Kraków, where, thanks to a targeted grant from the state budget, reconstruction and renovation is underway. The investment will enable adapting the home to the needs of the women and their children who live there, increase the number of places available and create an office for counselling and psychological support.

16.12.2021On 16 December, the head of the Polish government took part in a meeting of the European Council (EC) in Brussels. Its agenda focused on problems related to the migration crisis and the defence of the European Union's eastern border. It also addressed issues concerning the ETS system and high prices of energy and gas.

15.12.2021The European Union's Eastern Partnership Summit was held in Brussels. Its agenda concerned the future of the initiative in the context of preparation for various scenarios of events unfolding in the region. A joint declaration was also adopted to underline the strong commitment to a strategic, ambitious and future-oriented Eastern Partnership, which aims to promote stability, prosperity and mutual cooperation, as well as increase our involvement in necessary transformations and efforts to address global and regional challenges. The summit was not attended by representatives of the Belarusian authorities.

13.12.2021Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki visited Budapest, where he met with the prime ministers of Hungary, Slovakia and the Czech Republic as part of the next summit of the Visegrad Group countries. However, this time among the meeting participants was also President of France Emmanuel Macron. Aimed at discussing the current geopolitical developments in Europe, the Budapest meeting allowed the parties present to closely examine the current threats related to illegal migration and the crisis caused by the surging energy prices. During its course, President Emmanuel Macron presented the priorities of the French Presidency of the Council of the European Union, which are to take into account such problems as migration and asylum policy.

13.12.2021On 13 December 1981, the communist authorities declared martial law in Poland. A significant number of national and regional Solidarity leaders, advisors, members of works committees of large factories, democratic opposition activists and intellectuals associated with Solidarity were imprisoned. On the 40th anniversary of those events, Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki took part in ceremonies organised at the Museum of Cursed Soldiers and Political Prisoners of the Polish People's Republic. On this special day, we express our solidarity and gratitude for the courage and sacrifice of all the people repressed under martial law.

12.12.2021Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki met with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz. After Paris and Brussels, Warsaw was the third European capital visited by the newly appointed head of the German government. At the first official meeting with Mr Scholz, Prime Minister Morawiecki emphasized that the appointment of a new government across Poland’s western border also marks a new chapter in Polish-German relations. The talks focused primarily on common challenges – including the situation on the eastern border of the European Union and in Ukraine, as well as EU affairs, energy issues and further Polish-German cooperation.

10.12.2021Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki is continuing his meetings with European leaders with whom he discusses the situation at the eastern border of the European Union. Rome was the next stop on Prime Minister’s itinerary, where he met with Prime Minister Mario Draghi. In their talks, the politicians focused on the threats looming from the east, matters related to migration and the energy system as well as the situation in Ukraine.

10.12.2021The head of the Polish government met with EU Commissioner for Internal Market Thierry Breton. The meeting concerned the current agenda of the European Union, with particular focus on matters relating to the internal market, as well as the industrial and digital policies.

08.12.2021The Head of the Polish Government visited the Guido Mine, where he explored the “14 days underground… A history of the fight for freedom” tourist route. This route commemorates the longest underground strike, organised in 1981 in the Piast Mine in Bieruń in response to imposition of martial law. 13 December will mark the 40th anniversary of that imposition.

07.12.2021“We have to realise how great of a weapon the internet actually is and how necessary it is right now to develop, under the leadership of the UN, the appropriate regulations,” said Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki during the opening ceremony of the 16th United Nations (UN) Internet Governance Forum – IGF 2021. The issue of internet governance on equal terms was discussed, among others, by representatives of governments, the private sector, the scientific community and social organisations. Poland is hosting the IGF for the first time. During the Forum, the Prime Minister has met with United Nations Under-Secretary-General, Liu Zhenmin. The conversation between the two concerned, among others, digital topics on the UN agenda.
