Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki visited the temporary hospital in Pyrzowice

29.11.2021

The pandemic situation in Poland still requires special solutions – hence the need for temporary hospitals, such as the one in Pyrzowice. The patients admitted to these wards are mainly unvaccinated people – approx. 75 per cent of people who are seriously ill have not taken the chance to vaccinate. “Let us take advantage of the fact that we have an abundance of vaccines and that they are free of charge,” said the head of the Polish government. “You can easily register and get vaccinated in a number of facilities.”

Statistics from the last few days leave no illusions – the fight against the pandemic continues. The number of new coronavirus cases is several thousand every day. Over 600 thousand people are in quarantine – it is as if almost all citizens of Wrocław were in quarantine!

Vaccination makes a significant difference in protecting health and life. Data from 26 November show that more than 94 per cent of people who died from coronavirus were unvaccinated.

That is why it is so important to vaccinate. Equally important is compliance with the following principles: distance, disinfection, masks. The Prime Minister also encouraged people to take the third booster dose of the vaccine.

Support for health care services

The head of the Polish government thanked medical staff for their great commitment, which is visible not only in Pyrzowice but also in other places throughout Poland. Such hospitals are vitally needed as a complement to the current health system. At present, there are 23 temporary hospitals operating in the country, with more scheduled to open in the coming days.

A new strain of the virus - Omikron

WHO provides disturbing information regarding a new variant of COVID-19 called Omicron. We do not yet know all the consequences associated with contracting this strain of coronavirus. Many countries are already creating new regulations to protect people from the mutation. Analysing the current situation, the Polish government will also introduce changes in the safety rules.
