World Economic Forum in Davos with the participation of Deputy Minister Andrzej Szeptycki

The World Economic Forum in Davos, held under the theme "Cooperation for a Smart Era," has once again become a meeting place for leaders in politics, business and science from around the world. As part of the event, Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Science and Higher Education Andrzej Szeptycki joined an international debate on the future of artificial intelligence and European research and innovation cooperation.
Meeting of political and business leaders
Every year, politicians, entrepreneurs, academics and NGO leaders meet in Davos, Switzerland, to discuss key global challenges. This year's edition attracted more than 3,000 participants from 130 countries, including 350 government representatives and 60 heads of state. Discussions focused on topics such as the development of artificial intelligence, climate change, armed conflict, disinformation and growing social polarization. The focus was on the opportunities brought by the development of technology and the dangers of its misuse.
The panel “AI for Public Benefit: Bridging Technology and Society” - artificial intelligence in the service of society
The first panel with Deputy Minister Szeptycki focused on the role of artificial intelligence in solving global problems. Discussions included the use of AI in health care, education or the fight against climate change. Deputy Minister stressed that “artificial intelligence is a tool that must be used responsibly to strengthen society, not deepen its divisions”.
The need for close cooperation between governments, the private sector and researchers was also noted so that technological development goes hand in hand with inclusiveness and responds to the real needs of society. The discussion also provided an opportunity to share experiences with international experts in developing community-friendly technology solutions around the world.
Polish presidency of the EU and Polish-Swiss cooperation
The second panel, “Polish Presidency of the EU and Swiss-Polish Relations”, dealt with Poland's priorities during its 2025 presidency of the EU Council, as well as scientific and innovative cooperation between Poland and Switzerland. Deputy Minister stressed that “science diplomacy should not only be treated as a national tool, but also a global one”. The key role of creating international research networks to facilitate knowledge sharing, access to funds, and strengthen cooperation in the field of artificial intelligence and innovation was also highlighted. Cooperation with Switzerland, which is one of the world leaders in high-tech, has been considered strategically important for Polish start-ups and scientific institutions.
Deputy Minister Andrzej Szeptycki's participation in the World Economic Forum in Davos was an expression of involvement in the most important global discussions on the future of technology, science and international cooperation, as well as an opportunity to promote Polish priorities related to scientific research and innovation development.
