    A bill of indictment has been filed against 16 foreigners accused of conducting espionage activities on the territory of the Republic of Poland for the benefit of Russian special services and of participating in an organized criminal group. This is the result of the investigation carried out by the Poland's Internal Security Agency (ABW) under the Prosecutor's Office supervision.

    Officers of the Internal Security Agency (ABW) detained further individuals involved in a large-scale fraud in the art trade. The men were directly involved in assisting the people running the New Form art gallery in Sweden - Joanna S. and her son Mikael S. - who were detained at the end of 2021, whose activities consisted of defrauding customers and disposing of their property adversely.

The Polish civil counterintelligence – the Internal Security Agency (ABW) – and a military one – the Military Counterintelligence Service (SKW) – effectively combat foreign special services. They do it within the scope of the conducted investigations, but also they apply administrative tools that enable them to neutralize threats.

    The special services are receiving signals about the possibility of an increased number of attempted cyber-attacks and disinformation campaigns in the coming days, aimed at disrupting the preparations and course of the elections to the Parliament of the Republic of Poland on October 15 this year. The first phase of this campaign is already ongoing.

The man has been accused of participating in operations of foreign intelligence against the Republic of Poland. The investigation was initiated basing on findings made by the Military Counterintelligence Service (SKW).

    On Aug. 11th 2023, the officers of Poland’s counterintelligence service, the ABW, detained two Russian nationals suspected of performing tasks for the benefit of the Russian intelligence and security services. Particularly, the duo were involved in spreading the Kremlin’s propaganda regarding the Wagner Group.
