Poland considers as illegal the so-called “presidential elections” held on Georgian territory of Abkhazia by separatist authorities in Sokhumi on March 22, 2020, and we do not recognize their results. We strongly condemn all actions undertaken at the occupied territories without the consent of the government in Tbilisi.

On the initiative of Poland, Minister Jacek Czaputowicz held a videoconference with his Belarusian counterpart Vladimir Makei, on 20 March 2020. The video meeting replaced the official visit planned for this date, which was (both sides stressed) only postponed due to the SARS-CoV-2 virus pandemic. The ministers agreed that, as soon as possible, they will meet in Warsaw as originally planned to discuss a number of issues related to Polish-Belarusian bilateral relations.

Foreign Affairs Minister Jacek Czaputowicz appointed Monika Szatyńska-Luft to the position of MFA spokesperson on 18 March.

Held in Warsaw at the request of the Lithuanian side, the meeting focused on Poland’s assistance in enabling Lithuanian citizens to return home due to the epidemiological threat caused by the spread of coronavirus SARS-CoV-2, as well as the situation of Polish citizens coming back to their homeland through the territory of Lithuania.

During a phone conversation with Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China in Warsaw Liu Guangyuan, the foreign affairs minister thanked, on behalf of the Polish government, the authorities in Beijing for their pledge to send over constructive assistance to help Polish healthcare facilities combat coronavirus.

Today, the chief of Polish diplomacy took part in a video conference with heads of Polish consulates located in European countries. The participants discussed the current situation of Poles who are staying abroad and the efforts made by the consular services to assist Polish citizens in their return home.

The MFA has a Crisis Management Team, which is operational 24 hours a day. One of its key tasks is to find solutions for Poles who are abroad and have problems returning to Poland.

Visegrad Group foreign ministers and German top diplomat Heiko Maas met today to discuss the priorities of German presidency of the European Union Council, EU enlargement, progress of the Eastern Partnership, EU-Russia and EU-China relations and developments in the Middle East.

- Poland attaches great importance to the Bucharest Nine format. In a complex security situation in Europe, the strong and united voice of the Eastern flank should be heard even more clearly, - said the head of Polish diplomacy during the Vilnius meeting. - We see the “B9” consultations as our region’s contribution to strengthening the whole NATO and the transatlantic partnership, - he added.
