Marking the 75th anniversary of the end of the Second World War in 2020, we pay tribute to the victims and to all soldiers who fought to defeat Nazi Germany and put an end to the Holocaust.

On 5 May 1945, at 5 p.m., American troops crossed the gates of the German concentration camp Gusen. The main Mauthausen camp was liberated the same day, while the remaining satellite camps of the Mauthausen-Gusen camp system were freed in late April and early May.

Deputy Foreign Minister Paweł Jabłoński today held a briefing on the Polish foreign service’s economic diplomacy actions to support Polish entrepreneurs during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Adopted on 3 May 1791 in Warsaw by the Sejm of the Polish Republic (later known as the Great Sejm), the Polish Constitution was Europe’s first and the world’s second modern constitution.

On 28 April, Polish Foreign Minister Jacek Czaputowicz participated in a teleconference with his counterparts of Romania - Bogdan Aurescu, and Turkey - Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu.

Thanks to the #LotDoDomu (“LOT flies back home”) initiative which lasted from 15 March to 5 April 2020, more than 55,000 Poles returned to their homeland. It does not mean, however, that Ministry of Foreign Affairs has terminated assisting our nationals abroad. As a result of cooperation between the Chancellery of the Prime Minister, LOT Polish Airlines and the MFA, an airplane with our citizens on board landed in Warsaw in the evening of 28 April. The Poles could return from Morocco under the EU Civil Protection Mechanism (UCPM).

"Epidemics know no borders. That is why solidarity among neighbours is particularly important during this difficult time,” said Deputy Minister Marcin Przydacz during the handover of humanitarian aid to our eastern neighbour.

“Ukraine and other Eastern Partnership countries need strong support from the European Union in their fight against the COVID-19 pandemic,” Foreign Minister Jacek Czaputowicz said today at a video conference meeting of EU heads of diplomacy.

“Russia’s pressure on Kyiv remains strong. It is necessary for the EU to maintain a consistent approach to support Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity,” stressed Minister Jacek Czaputowicz during a video conference on cooperation with Kyiv.

“This extraordinary time calls for extraordinary attitude and actions. Today, more than ever, we need to stay united and help each other,” Deputy Minister Szymon Szynkowski vel Sęk said while thanking the Polish community in the world for their commitment to the Polonia4Neighbours project.
