“Pakistan is Poland’s major partner in South Asia. We hope to further deepen our bilateral cooperation,” Undersecretary of State Marcin Przydacz said at a meeting with Pakistan’s Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Aman Rashid.

On Saturday 14 December 2019, Minister of Foreign Affairs Jacek Czaputowicz will visit Qatar. This will be another official trip the chief of Polish diplomacy will make to the Persian Gulf this year, following his visits to Saudi Arabia and Kuwait.

“The MFA believes that Polish foreign policy should be increasingly focused on the protection of Polish economic interests,” the chief of Polish diplomacy said as he was opening the annual meeting with people who are engaged in the promotion of the Polish economy abroad.

EU-Africa relations, promoting and protecting human rights in the world, and the effectiveness of the Common Foreign and Security Policy were the main topics at the Foreign Affairs Council meeting.

On 10 December 2019, the Polish top diplomat will visit the Kingdom of the Netherlands.

Each year, 10 December marks Human Rights Day, which falls on the anniversary of the adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights by the UN General Assembly. This year’s theme is Youth Standing Up for Human Rights, which reflects the 30th anniversary of the Convention on the Rights of the Child.

“North Macedonia deserves green light to open negotiations to join the European Union based on the implemented reforms and the good neighbourly relations it pursues. We expect this decision from the European Council,” said Deputy Minister Szynkowski vel Sęk during his visit to North Macedonia, during which he summarised Polish presidency of the Berlin Process and took part in political consultations with North Macedonia’s representatives.

On Friday, 6 December, the Chancellor of Germany Angela Merkel visited the Auschwitz-Birkenau State Museum in Oswiecim to mark the 10th anniversary of the Auschwitz-Birkenau Foundation. It was Angela Merkel’s first visit to the former German Nazi concentration and extermination camp after her 14 years in office and the third visit of an incumbent head of government.
