“Poland considers Germany not only as its neighbour with whom it has good-neighbourly relations and close economic cooperation, but also as an important ally in NATO and in the European Union,” Deputy Foreign Minister Szymon Szynkowski vel Sęk said at the European Civic dialogue conference that was held in Berlin.

“We have recently witnessed attempts by President Vladimir Putin and other representatives of Russian authorities at reinterpreting the history of World War II,” Minister Jacek Czaputowicz said at the Sunday ministerial meeting of member countries of the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA) that was held in Brussels.

Developments in the Middle East region, cooperation aimed at supporting the Sahel states and climate diplomacy will be major points on the agenda of EU foreign ministers during the Foreign Affairs Council meeting on 20 January 2020 in Brussels.

“Poland and Lithuania actively participate in the process of reforming and strengthening NATO. We perceive the North Atlantic Alliance as a foundation for security in our part of Europe and as a platform to foster transatlantic bonds. We share views on threats that we face in contemporary international relations,” said Minister Jacek Czaputowicz during his visit to Vilnius.

“Honouring the memory of Raoul Wallenberg and people like him is an integral part of Poland’s mission to preserve the memory of six million Jews, including three million Polish Jews, who were victims of the murderous machine of German Reich,” the Polish deputy foreign minister said at a wreath-laying ceremony at the plaque commemorating Raoul Wallenberg which is located in Warsaw in the street that was named after him.

On 16-17 January, Minister Jacek Czaputowicz will visit Lithuania, where he will meet with prime minister, speaker of parliament and foreign minister of the Republic of Lithuania.

“Migration management system in Europe should be based on secure EU external borders, cooperation with third countries, effective returns and preventing secondary movements,” said Minister Konrad Szymański during a meeting with Minister for European Affairs of Greece Miltiadis Varvitsiotis.

“In this crisis situation we need to stay united within the transatlantic community,” said Minister Czaputowicz summarising the session of the Foreign Affairs Council (FAC), which was urgently summoned in Brussels on Friday.

The recent developments in Iraq, rising tensions in the US-Iran relations, and Iran’s further steps violating the 2015 nuclear deal (the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, JCPOA) will be discussed by the Foreign Affairs Council that will hold an extraordinary meeting in Brussels on Friday. The Polish delegation will be headed by Minister Jacek Czaputowicz.
