At the invitation of Minister of Foreign Affairs Zbigniew Rau, Japan’s Foreign Minister Yoshimasa Hayashi will visit Poland on 8 September 2023. After Minister Rau’s visit to Japan in May, the Warsaw consultations will see the diplomats meeting for the second time already this year.

The conversation between the top diplomats focused on the current security situation in Europe. It also concerned the coordination of the transatlantic community's actions to support Ukraine in its fight against Russia’s aggression.

A ceremony was held on 31 August to close the Consular Agency in Smolensk.

In a discussion on Russia’s aggression against Ukraine, Deputy Minister Wojciech Gerwel, who attended the meeting on behalf of Minister Zbigniew Rau, stressed that only fair peace can guarantee security for Ukraine and Europe.
