Development of rural tourism in the territory of Ungheni region

The rural areas of the Ungheni region are home to about 26,000 people The region hosts 13,000 agricultural farms adn 100 enterprises engaged in agricultural production Owners od small farms are unable to make a living solely from agriculture which prompts them to work in industry or migrate. Thanks to its rich natural resources (beatiful landscapes, forest, rivers and lakes) and local traditions, the Ungheni regions has considerable potential to develop rural toursi. As part of the implemented projects, a cluster of local producers has been established and granted support from the National Associations of Rural, Ecological and Cultural Tourism, regional authorities and the Agency  for Regional Development and European Integration Ungheni. 20 cluster members took part in trainging on principles of tourists traffic managment, bussines planning and marketinf and financing of toursim -supporting economic activities. Three tourist trails were also charted through the most interestng Ugheni regions spots, taking into account the offers of local producers. Outlets to sell local products were opened in the villages in Ungheni district  including Radenii Vechi village at the outskirsts of the Plaiul Fagului National Partk. In the part an educatonal apiary with 100 beehives that also hosts a small honeh manufacture facility has been ste up, combined with a campsite.

Thanks to the project, the living conditions of local inhabitants have improved. Indirectly, the project also contributed to preserving Moldovan tradition and culture and the enviroment.

New tourist and educational facilities in the Plaiul Fagului National Park and local villages will enrich the tourist infrastructure in the region.
