The Prime Ministers discussed the coordination of comprehensive support to Ukraine and humanitarian aid to people sheltering from hostilities. The politicians also discussed the strengthening of sanctions against Russia, security and defence. One of the most important topics was energy security - in the context of Norway's key role in the European supply system.

03.03.2022Prime Minister: Europe needs strong economies that do not depend on energy from RussiaOn the 101st anniversary of signing of the “Convention on Defensive Alliance between the Republic of Poland and the Kingdom of Romania”, the Prime Ministers of Poland and Romania held intergovernmental consultations. Topics discussed during the meeting between the leaders of the largest countries of the eastern flank of NATO included bilateral relations between the two countries, concerns related to security and defence, matters from the agenda of the EU and issues related to regional policy. The Governments of Poland and Romania have concluded an agreement on cooperation between their defence industries, as well as agreements on closer cooperation in the field of strategic reserves and on diplomatic and academic cooperation. Previous consultations were held in Warsaw (2018) and in Bucharest (2019).

01.03.2022Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki: We want to show our solidarity with the Ukrainian people togetherStronger cooperation between Poland and Great Britain for Ukraine, coordination of actions and bilateral cooperation for European security were the main topics discussed during the meeting between Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki and Prime Minister Boris Johnson. The visit was also meant to emphasise Great Britain’s solidarity in view of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. This was yet another meeting between the leaders of the two states. The previous such meeting took place on 10 February 2022 and concerned, among others, the serious geopolitical threats on the part of Russia and common actions under NATO. After the meeting, the Head of the Polish Government stressed that we are concentrating on implementing a package of sanctions and reinforcing the eastern flank of NATO.

This includes a EUR 100 billion reconstruction plan for Ukraine, joint investment projects, as well as ensuring energy independence from Russia’s imperial policy. PM Morawiecki also thanked Poles for their exceptional commitment to providing humanitarian aid to Ukraine.
