31.03.2025
Security in Europe and continued comprehensive support for Ukraine – these are the main topics of the next meeting of the European Union's Big Five. Minister Sikorski met today in Madrid with the heads of diplomacy: France, Spain, Germany, Ukraine, Italy and the United Kingdom. The meeting was also attended by the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy.
The meeting participants discussed Europe's role in achieving a just and lasting peace in Ukraine and protecting European security interests. The ministers also discussed the search for a common strategy for maintaining cooperation with the United States and developing a comprehensive approach of the European Union to defense issues in the long term.
Minister Radosław Sikorski emphasized that it is necessary to increase defense spending in Europe to at least 3% of GDP by all EU member states, as well as to maintain the US presence in Europe. He also pointed out that the success of negotiations on ending the war on our eastern border depends on increasing pressure on Russia.
