Poland in South Africa

Polish food producers participated in the Africa Food Show in Cape Town. Under the banner of "Poland Tastes Good," the National Support Center for Agriculture (KOWR) encouraged South African investors and importers to establish partnerships with Polish producers.

The development of bilateral economic relations, particularly in the areas of energy, transport, agriculture, and new technologies, was the main topic of the Polish-Mozambican B2B conference, organized on the sidelines of the Global Gateway Forum 2026 in Maputo. Representatives of the National Chamber of Commerce (KIG) and the Mozambican Chamber of Commerce (Confederação das Associações Económicas de Moçambique - ) signed a letter of intent regarding bilateral cooperation.

A screening of the film "Wałęsa: Man of Hope," one of the works directed by the renowned Polish director Andrzej Wajda, took place in Johannesburg on June 5, 2026. The event was organized by the Warsaw Flights Organizing Committee in cooperation with the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Pretoria.

The 8th Congress of Polish Africanists took place in Żory from May 27-29, 2026, bringing together numerous academics from various regions of Poland. Thanks to the involvement of the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Pretoria, the guest of honor was Vieira Mário Mauelele, a Mozambican writer and historian, who presented a lecture on the concept of ubuntocracy. The event provided an opportunity to exchange experiences and build relationships between scholars from Poland and African countries.

Sisters Jolanta and Mariola from the Congregation of the Sisters Servants of Mary Immaculate were honored with distinctions for their outstanding contributions to missionary and social activities, particularly for their long-standing support for those in need of help and support in Zambia.

Reportage Day, a meeting with the authors of the five best reportage books of 2025, will take place on Saturday, May 30th, from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM at the National Stadium. The event is part of the International Book Fair.

Łukasz Pilip's reportage, "Izabela Dłużyk: The Bird Lady," has reached the finals of the prestigious True Story Award - one of the world's most important awards for literary reportage. The Polish reportage tells the story of Izabela Dłużyk - a blind translator, doctor of humanities, and documentarian of the sounds of nature.

The Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Pretoria participated in the European Film Festival in Mbabane. This year's festival featured, among others, the Polish drama "The Birch Wood" (Brzezina) directed by Andrzej Wajda.

The opening of the exhibition "Sybir - Prison of Nations" took place on May 9, 2026 in Johannesburg. The exhibition, prepared by the Sybir Memorial Museum in Białystok, explores the history of Soviet deportations and the fate of the Siberian exiles.
